I found my way to the yoga mat a little later in life than some. My wife dragged me along to a few classes (I was reluctant at first) and I was pretty quickly drawn to the movement and physical aspects of the practice and the peace I found in it. It took a few years for me to really dig into the meditation side of my practice but that has helped me find a sense of peace and tranquility I had been seeking my entire adult life.
During the lockdown portion of the pandemic, I found myself practicing often on my own at home. With some encouragement from the people around me, I completed my RYT 200 hour training in multi-style yoga emphasizing Hatha and Ashtanga.
I’m drawn to the slow, meditative, balance of Hatha and Yin styles of yoga. I have been active off and on throughout my life – I’m an avid cyclist and a slow, steady triathlete. I love being outdoors and the connection with myself I’ve developed through my practice has given me a deeper appreciation for the time I spend there.
After the first class I attended, I looked around and realized every person in the room had a big smile on their face and thinking “wow… these people are on to something.”
I undertook training to deepen my own practice but in so doing, I realized I want to share this thing that has changed my life with others.
